The Georgia Teen Republicans was originally founded in the 1980s but died out in the 1990s. The Organization
was resurrected in 2002 under the leadership of Adult Advisor Linda Parker and the work of the Cherokee County
TARs. The Georgia Teen Republicans reached one high point in the 2006 elections. Under the leadership of Jade
Morey and then Johnny Blankenship, the Georgia TRs came out in force for Governor Sonny Perdue and the rest of
the Republican ticket. During this time, Johnny Blankenship and South Vice Chair Lee Tippett, grew the Georgia
Teen Republicans from Metro Atlanta and North Georgia to all corners of the State. However, shortly after the 2006
election, membership started to decline until December 2008 when Tyler Bishop took over the Organization. In
January of 2009, 3rd District GOP Chairman Lane Watts became the new Georgia Teen Republicans Adult
Advisor
. Between that that time and the 2009 Georgia TRs Convention at the State Capital, Tyler with the his
Executive Board and Lane, grew the Georgia Teen Republicans from 15-30 chapters. At the June Convention,
the current Board was elected.
